BADAC receives alerts from various agencies and organisations about public events that may be of interest to the local Aboriginal community.
We also either host or participate in events that benefit our local community.
IMPORTANT ATSI DATES
BADAC recognises that the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) peoples in Australia is marked by many significant dates and milestones. It is important to celebrate our history, be it a sad event or a proud achievement.

International Day of the World’s Indigenous People
9th August
A day to recognise Indigenous history, culture, languages, rights and aspirations throughout the world. It is celebrated with activities....

National Sorry Day
26th May
Marks the anniversary of the tabling of the Bringing Them Home report to the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.

Australian 1967 Referendum
27th May
The historical referendum that allowed for Aboriginal people to be included in the national census, and for the Commonwealth to create laws for them.

National Reconciliation Week
27th May to 3rd June
The historical referendum that allowed for Aboriginal people to be included in the national census, and for the Commonwealth to create laws for them.

Mabo Day
3rd June
Commemorates the 1992 High Court decision that recognised the existence of native title rights in Australia.

NAIDOC Week
3rd - 10th July, 2022
This year is a flag raising, smoking ceremony and welcome to country at BADAC at 10am on Monday 5th July followed by a walk to the Ballarat cemetery at 10.30am to pay respect to Mullawallah and hold a morning tea for community.

Harmony Day
21st March
A day that celebrates cultural diversity, bringing together Australians from all walks of life.

National Aboriginal & Islander Children’s Day
4th August
First observed in 1988, this day is celebrated across Australia with special themes each year.
